What stays on your phone, and what doesn't.
Last changed 2 November 2026
Ratri is made so that almost nothing about you leaves your phone. There's no account to make, no ads, and no analytics or tracking in the app. This page says what stays on your phone, the few things that leave it and why, and what happens to them.
What stays on your phone
Your intention, your morning check-ins, your dream journal, which sessions you've played and for how long, your bedtime, and your settings are stored on your phone and nowhere else. Ratri doesn't send them to us and doesn't currently sync them to iCloud. Deleting the app deletes all of it.
What leaves your phone, and why
Your words, when you ask. When you describe what you want in your own words, or tell a dream in the morning, by voice, the recording is sent to our server (run on Cloudflare Workers), which passes it to Deepgram to turn it into text. For an intention, that text is then sent to OpenAI to be shaped into a few short lines and checked by its moderation, and the line you choose is sent to ElevenLabs to be said in your guide's voice. If you type the description instead, the same happens without Deepgram. Our server keeps none of it: no recordings, no transcripts, no lines and no clips are stored there. It logs errors and counts, never your words. These providers process what they're sent under their own terms, and are sent nothing else about you: no name, no identifier, no history. A dream entry is only turned into text; no language model touches it.
Purchases. Ratri Pro is sold through the App Store, so Apple handles payment and we never see your card or your Apple Account details. To know whether Pro is active, the app uses RevenueCat, which stores a random anonymous identifier, your subscription's status and history, and basic device information such as the type of phone, the iOS version and your locale. There's no name or email attached to it.
Your IP address. Like any request on the internet, requests to our server carry your IP address. Cloudflare and our server see it, use it to limit how many requests an address can make in a minute, and keep it in short-lived logs. It's not linked to anything else.
Apple. If you've chosen to share analytics with developers in your iPhone's settings, Apple sends us crash reports and anonymous usage statistics. We can't identify you from them.
Permissions
Ratri asks for the microphone only when you tap to record, and uses it only while you're recording. It asks for notifications only if you turn on the wind-down reminder; the reminder is scheduled on your phone and nothing is sent anywhere to deliver it.
What we don't do
No accounts. No ads. No third-party analytics or advertising SDKs. No selling, renting or sharing of anything about you. No tracking across other apps or websites.
This website
tryratri.app is a static site. It sets no cookies and runs no analytics. It's served through Cloudflare, which sees your IP address the way any content network does.
Children
Ratri isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect anything from them.
Your choices
Everything Ratri keeps is on your phone, so deleting the app removes it. Subscriptions are managed and cancelled through your Apple Account. If you have a question about any of this, or want to know what RevenueCat holds against your anonymous identifier, write to hello@tryratri.app.
Changes
If how Ratri handles your information changes, this page will change with it, and the date at the top will say when.
